Donald Kelly

Donald B. Kelly "Boyfriend" 9/3/22 ~ 3/6/06 Donald B. Kelly - last graduation March 6, 2006. Life long learner. Taught math in many universities around the country, and earned many degrees. Born Sept. 3, 1922 to John Willard Evans Kelly and Annie May Naismith in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Blanche Spencer on Feb 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple after returning from three plus years in Military Intelligence serving in Egypt, Casablanca, Acera, Dakar and visiting the Holy Land in Jerusalem in time to pick Blanche up from the train returning from her mission in Eastern Canada. He is survived by his wife, Blanche, and his brother, Paul Kelly. He loved his three children - Kathleen Goodbaudy (William), Annette Gillis (Kimball), Maureen Suchanek; their wonderful, supportive husbands; his 18 grandchildren and eight great-grand-children (He thought all were grand and great.) He was preceded in death by his sister, Jananne and two grandchildren. He loved teaching math and encouraged all to love and excel in math. Majority of math teaching at Highland High - tutored math until his last day on earth, when he answered a greater calling. Served 10 years on Temple Square in addition to many, many local mission calls. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 12:00 noon, at the Yalecrest 2nd Ward (1035 S. 1800 E.) Family and friends may visit Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 E. 1300 S.), and Saturday morning one hour prior to services. Kathleen Kelly (Goodbaudy)

Yes, this is my dad's obit. As far as I am concerned he was the best math teacher I ever had. But I am not prejudiced at all!  I am glad that someone else remembers him. Anybody else out there remember him as a good teacher/not so good teacher/really bad teacher?  I'd really like to know what others thought of him as a teacher. I really thought he was the best dad anyone could ever have! THANK YOU! to whoever posted this.

William Benton

Mr. Kelly taught calculus in 12th grade. He was so inspiring. I love those pictures of him. He made a huge difference in my life! - Bill Benton

Candy Wilson (Probert)

Mr Kelly was one of my favorite teachers. I really struggled in math and spent many hours after school getting extra help. I used to clean his blackboards once a week because I knew he spent time helping me that he could have been doing something else. I never knew Kathleen Kelly was his daughter!!!
