Joan Sabey

Joan Sabey

Joan passed away peacefully at home March 11, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was born on July 12, 1952 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada to Yvonne and Ervin Sabey.  Joan moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with her mother and older brother, Bernie at 6 years old.  She graduated from Highland High School, and worked as an administrative assistant at the U of U College of Business where Joan also graduated.  She was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to her sweetheart, Kent Poole March 2, 1973. Together they raised their 6 children in Sandy, UT. Joan was passionate about serving and held various positions in the LDS Church.  A few of her favorite callings included Primary, Cub Scouts, and Young Women’s. She looked forward to serving in the Draper temple Tuesday afternoons. Joan was passionate about socializing. She made friends everywhere because she loved talking to EVERYONE. Joan loved taking her kids and grandkids to the zoo and Disneyland.  She enjoyed crafting, collecting Nutcrackers, decorating for holidays and gift giving. Joan’s “family” reaches far beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her husband Kent, 6 children: Mindy Poole Buxton (T.J.), Ben Poole, Brandon Poole (Brienne), Tony Poole (Natalie), Tyson Poole (Syd), Megan Poole Guest (Kyle), 16 grandchildren and loyal brother, Bernard Sabey.  We extend a special thanks to Rocky Mountain Care and the doctors and nurses at IMC Hospital for taking such great care of our Iron Nana. In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in her name to Primary Children’s Hospital.
