Perry Shaw (Teacher)

Perry Clayton Shaw Gramps Our kind loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away after a battle with multiple myeloma, on August 19, 2011 surrounded by his family.Born January 8, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert E. Shaw and Ruth G. Christensen. He served in the U.S. Air Force. At the end of his service he was stationed at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho where he met his sweetheart Marilyn Saville. On August 30, 1957 they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four beautiful children. He graduated from Brigham Young University. His first teaching assignment was in Barnwell, Alberta Canada. He taught in the Salt Lake School District and served as President of the Salt Lake Teachers Association. He wrote the first written agreement and master contract between teachers and the Board of Education. He later worked for USAIL where he traveled to the Middle East to improve the quality of education in low performing schools. Retired in 1989. Perry enjoyed gardening, reading, home decor and painting. He especially enjoyed attending art class with his daughter Lorri. Family meant the world to him. Preceded in death by brothers Wayne, Bob and Roger, sister Beth and daughter Lorri Shaw Folkersen. Survived by daughter Kris (Rob) McMain, son Steve (Lori) Shaw, daughter Janet (Robert) Draper, son-in law Rod Folkersen, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Ben (Vera) Shaw, sister-in-law Irene Shaw, sister Geneal McGregor, sister Ruth Ann Shaw and brother Glenn Shaw

Jack Davis

The combination of Mr. Shaw and Mr. Webster greatly instilled in me a desire to study history.  I have reflected, and continue to reflect, often on their positive influence on me and my ever-growing appreciation of history especially in the realms of disease, war and religion.
